Colville Electric has been in one family for two generations — same name on the truck, same name on the invoice, same name answering the phone. That continuity is the difference between an electrician who shows up once and one who knows your building.
We work commercial and industrial accounts across Metro Detroit. We’ve wired pumping stations, factories, recycling centers, offices, and storefronts — and we’d rather take a small job and do it right than chase headlines.
Jim Colville always knew he’d be an electrician. He joined the Navy at 17 and served aboard the USS Blackfin diesel-electric submarine, then came home to Detroit to wire Chrysler plants and, later, inspect the city’s electrical work from the inside.
In 1973, a few months after marrying his wife Ginnie, Jim hung out his own shingle. Colville Electric was born around a Detroit kitchen table — and the family-business mentality stuck.
Decades later, his son Dave decided he wanted in. After an Electrical Engineering degree from Michigan Technological University, Dave came home, learned the books and the bench, and officially took over in 2012. In 2020 Dave’s wife Jen joined to run the office side.
Two generations, one phone number, and the same focus: keep Metro Detroit’s plants, shops, and offices powered — and treat every customer like the family that hired us first.
